Pemanfaatan Biogas Dan Pengaruhnya Pada Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

For more than ten years after Millennium Development Goals were agreed, Indonesian government still faced many stumbling blocks to achieve some goals. The increase of population in Indonesia tends to raise social and economic problems. Furthermore, the problems would make adverse impact to achieve MDGs. For instance, the increase of population will enhance the existence of waste and generate problems related to energy supplies. This review aimed to highlight the impact of biogas utilization on MDGs achievement. Biogas utilization is one of sustainable options to tackle problems in waste management and energy supplies. Many studies show that the utilization of biogas has strong relation with four aspects of MDGs: 1) Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger (MDG-1); 2) Promote gender equality and empower women (MDG-3); 3) Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases (MDG-6); 4) Ensure environmental sustainability (MDG-7).
