Competation of economic activity between modern markets and tradisional markets tend to be out of control. The objectives of the research are: (1) to identify the development of modern stores; (2) to analyze distribution of modern stores and (3) to analyze policy for modern stores in Pati Regency. The research uses descriptive-quantitative approach. There are three variables in the research: (a) the growth of modern stores; (b) distribution of modern stores and (c) policy of modern stores. The Data are collected by observation, interview, and field events. The research uses descriptive analysis. There are three main findings in the research. Firstly, Pati regency has 50 modern stores with the growth 7 modern stores annually from 2005 to 2012. Secondly, among 18 of 50 modern stores (36,00%) are on the sites which have too near distance to tradicional markets. Thirdly, policy of modern stores in Pati Regency has some weakness. Therefore, Local Government of Pati Regency should reformulation policy for modern stores.
